Human rights guarantee our freedom, security and well-being and that of future generations.
This work is only possible if we maintain the rigour of our analyses, our credibility and our independence from any political party or movement.
In January 2020, the League and the Liga decided to buy a building together. Brigitte and Michel Visart, parents of Lauriane, a young lawyer who died in the attacks of 22 March 2016 in Brussels, support the project in her memory, by making a substantial financial contribution. This donation has not only moved us, it has made this project possible.
We invest in the purchase of a space to make it a place of reference.
A place to strengthen each other and guarantee our independence. A place where about 100 human rights defenders, both staff and volunteers, will meet and where we will be able to organise training and seminars for the general public.
We ask for your help exceptionaly to get this project off the ground.

Why has it changed? Well, the fire brigade made a visit and an audit of our plans. They imposed another batch of adaptations for security reasons. On the other hand, the success of our crowdfunding has convinced VDK — an ethical and sustainable local bank – to lend us more money for the project.
The above table takes into account the latest financial input: the expenses required by the firefighters, the updated estimate of the architects, the updated bank credit and the awesome support of the P&V Group, l'Union Nationale des Mutualités Socialistes / Solidaris and of the Socialistische Mutualiteiten.
For the records, here is the previous budget according to which we started our campaign.
